If you like to rock it sometimes and you are in your late 30s and dangerously approaching 40s like me
then you want to go to a club where you can feel at ease and at home definitely not one where you will be
shoved aside by the younger and sometimes stronger young men with feet stepping all over yours on
the dance floor.
I have been looking for a matured groovy club since I hit Dallas. In Indianapolis, NAP Town as we love to
call it, you could go to THE GRAND and if you considered the crowd there are too old for you, you being in
your 30s and dangerously approaching 40s like I said, then you could go to THE POINT, both clubs are
on Massachusetts Street or find your way to SAVOY on 86th Streets or perhaps MEMORIES on
Michigan Street and have a good time.
Here in Dallas, maybe because I work too hard like some people are wont to say, I have been looking
for a club like the four I mentioned above. I made it to SPANKEES on Friday 3/2/07 and it was really laid
back. I was expecting to be patted down for gun like most clubs do, they probably have not had such an
experience because only my ID was checked and when I asked about the patting down for gun routine,
the guys merely looked at me like I was a creature from Mass.
The club itself was a melting point, filled with black and white people with no one being made to be
conscious of his/her ethnicity. People were shooting pool on the side, the club had 2 pool tables and the
line was so backed up I didn’t fool myself that I will get the chance to shoot. So off to the dance floor I
went where there were people dancing and generally having a good time.
I will tell you more about the club later with pictures because I only had my cell phone with me and it
doesn’t shoot good pictures at night. I intend to bring you a more detailed account of SPANKEES, which
one of the patrons told me, was a swingers’ club. I find that assertion unbelievable because there was
no sign it was one, it seemed to me in every sense of the word like a regular club. The music was good
and I noticed they played the clean version of most of the songs except for AKON’S duet with SNOOP
DOGG “I wanna f… you” and maybe others I was so much enjoying myself to notice. I will try to get an
interview with the owner if I could get one to shed more light on the club.
After partying if you have no food at home and you are in the North Dallas and Addison area then you
might want to check out IHOP.
Going into IHOP, I met some Nigerians going in to have breakfast, evidence that we like to party and love
good food. The place was filled up and the food tasted really good. I couldn’t escape the temptation of
taking pictures there because it was well lit and no colored bulb unlike the club’s environment. The food
on the menu looked real good and since it’s been ages since last I had philly cheese steak I went for
the philly cheese steak super stacker which tasted real good. Some young men beside my table were
having so much fun I had to take their pictures to show you fun doesn’t end at the club

shoot. The bar is rich with various kinds of drinks, depending on what you like to drink. and
they treated patrons to tracks by Usher “yeah” Lil John and a whole lot of other Hip Music
is supplied by a band and they sing all kind of music. I was there on Friday 3/16/06 and

music blaring from the speakers were not too loud as to make you uncomfortable and
when the band is on break you can continue dancing to music coming from the speakers
with corresponding video on the big screen and smaller tvs.
Lots of parking spaces, that is one less headache plus you can have the Valleys park your
vehicle. A nice place to take your lady, cover is only $5.
